Facebook: Who can see "Shared With" Privacy Fail

There is a major bug in the Facebook privacy settings regarding post, lists and audiences.  As you can see from Facebook help, selecting a custom audience should not make the people you specified on your custom settings visible to the custom audience.  However, as you can see from the image below, that's not the case.  Facebook should let you decide whether you want to display "Shared With" information anyway, however that's not the case and the only way to prevent that from happening is not working.  Please share.  Thanks.

Salvage What's Left

Here's a new minimalistic song I wrote and recorded in a few hours. As some of you know, all my song are autobiographical.  However, I try to make them as abstract as possible so that you can find your own meaning in it.  I mean, what's good about listening to a song if you can't relate to it?

All was lost in a fire long ago
All my hopes and my dreams
Gotta salvage what's left and then move on

An invisible fear has called me friend
And it won't ever leave
All this time it was never meant to be
Gotta salvage what's left and then move on
Move on

Hope you like it.

Lost In Translation

I don't know when but a few years back I discovered a passion for languages.  I make a point to learn as much as I can about them.  Back in 2006 I was talking with someone about writing a song that wouldn't make sense and call it Lost In Translation.  I had some ideas about song, I knew what I wanted to sound like.  I recorded the demo of this song with a piano and liked how it sounded.  About 5 months ago, I decided to re-record this song.  I started from scratch but I had the original idea for reference.  Since piano is my main instrument and up until now I didn't have a piano based song, I knew this song would be it.  Even though it took me about 5 months to finish it--only working on it some afternoons and some weekends--I had a lot fun working on it.  I kept some parts of song very simple; only piano, bass and drums--and voice of course.  While I don't consider myself a singer, I left the voice track pretty dry on some parts to force me to record the best possible voice track that I could. Thanks for reading.

Lost In Translation

It's what you meant what you said?
Or did I misunderstand again?
The sky is red my heart is blue

Everyday is not today
Yesterday is gone away
Do I need to wait and see
If yesterday will ever be

You're incomplete
Half a phrase away
Misguided, misquoted
And just another stain

Everyday is not today
Yesterday is gone away
Do I need to wait and see
If yesterday will ever be

So don't translate or change the words
There's nothing to read between
'Cause what you get is what you hear
and what you'll get is what you'll hear

The Drive - A new song by Jesse Acosta

I wrote this song last week after driving in the middle of the night.

The Drive

Last night I drove
All through the night
To find new worlds
But then I found you

My so dark thoughts
Like city lights
They burn so bright
But then I found you

It's the middle of the night
The moon is bright
And the road is long
And the drive is far
When I finally get there
Will there be a place?
Will there be a place?

A million miles
And I'm still here
There are no roads
But then I found you

It's the middle of the night
The moon is bright
And the road is long
And the drive is hard
When I finally get there
Will there be a place?
Will there be a place for us?

New Year 2011

For the few that visit this site (yes, there are only a few), I want to tell you Happy New Year!

Let's get something out in the open, 2010 was one of the worse--if not the worst--year yet.  Some problems had to do with friendships, some with health, and some that are too private to share.  However, in spite of all that, I was able to record some songs; songs that I think are some of my best ones.  I was able to take some photos (104 photos according to my Flickr account).  Even though creatively it was a good year, I wish 2011 brings with it much better experiences.

I don't have a master plan on what I'd like to accomplish for 2011 but one thing is for sure; I will continue doing what I do, which is music and photography.  I also plan to travel to new places and record my experiences with photos.  I'm aware that I don't update this blog as much as I would like to, however I invite you to follow me on Facebook where I do send weekly updates.

May 2011 brings that which is the most important: happiness.

Your friend, Jesse.
